CONWAY, Ark. (Legal Newsline) - A Faulker County father and son want payback from a moving company after more than $10,000 in valuables was allegedly stolen from their belongings during a move, according to documents filed on February 11 in the Faulkner County Circuit Court in Arkansas.

Plaintiffs Herb and Archie Shearer hired defendants A+ffordable Moving LLC and Jorge L. Rivera, operator and president of A+ffordable Moving, to assist with moving their belongs into their new home in Guy on February 2, 2020. Part of the plaintiffs' belongings was a wooden jewelry box said to contain roughly $15,000 in jewelry, including a Rolex, gold cufflinks, a gold ring and chains, pearls and other assorted valuable jewelry.

Rivera and the other moving employees are accused of pilfering the jewelry box's contents during a suspiciously long unsupervised break in the cab of the moving truck. According to the suit, no one else besides the movers had access to the box, which was found stashed in a garbage sack with all of the valuable contents missing.

The Shearers ask for $40,000 in compensation for the alleged theft. They are represented by Dustin Chapman of Conway.
