CHICAGO (Legal Newsline) – Procter & Gamble is scamming customers hoping to buy environmentally friendly laundry detergent, a new class action lawsuit says.
The case, filed Jan. 4 in Chicago federal court, says Tide’s plant-based claims on P&G’s PurClean line are false.
“(T)he product is made, in significant part, with cleaning aids derived from petroleum, leaving Plaintiff and members of the classes having paid a premium for a product that failed to provide the promised benefits,” the lawsuit says.
“In particular, the ‘cleaning aids’ utilized in the product are polyethyleneimines alkoxylated. These cleaning aids are derived from petroleum – not plants.”
The firm Mason Lietz & Klinger is pursuing the case.
