SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) – Class action lawyers say Dove vanilla ice cream bars don’t contain enough real vanilla to use that word.
It is one of dozens of lawsuits filed by New York lawyer Spencer Sheehan against companies that produce vanilla food products. He is joined by New Jersey’s Shub Law Firm in this case against Mars Wrigley, filed Nov. 24 in California federal court.
“Rather than only containing real vanilla, Dove Vanilla Ice Cream Bars contain non-vanilla flavors and vanilla enhancers which Defendant fails to disclose, contrary to the legal requirements and expectations of reasonable consumers,” the lawsuit says.
The taste of the bars is “dissimilar to vanilla,” the lawsuit adds.
“Plaintiff would not have purchased or paid more for the Product had she realized that much, if not all, of the vanilla flavor came from non-vanilla plant sources,” the suit says.
