GEORGETOWN, Del. (Legal Newsline) – A Delaware woman who sued Donald Trump for dooming people to hell has had her complaint dismissed as legally frivolous.
Delaware Court of Chancery Master Patricia Griffin notified Meghan Kelly on Nov. 2 that she failed to establish standing to pursue her lawsuit, which she was doing without an attorney.
“Kelly alleges that, through Trump’s deception, he is misleading people, deceiving them to sin, and dooming them to hell,” Griffin wrote.
“The primary harm Kelly claims is that, because Trump is leading people to hell, Kelly will not be able to love them for eternity.”
Unfortunately for her, Kelly failed to convince Griffin that she’d suffered an actual or concrete injury caused by Trump.
Kelly’s lawsuit, filed in September, alleges:
-Trump has established government religion in violation of the First Amendment;
-Trump has burdened Kelly’s free exercise of religion in violation of the First Amendment; and
-Trump’s Executive Order 13798 violates the First Amendment.
That order, signed in 2017, ensures that religious organizations must compete on equal footing with secular organizations for federal financial assistance. Kelly’s lawsuit sought an injunction preventing Trump from sponsoring religion while President.
“Her contentions are too remote and vague to be actionable,” Griffin wrote. “She has also failed to show it is likely the injury she alleges, including persecution and eternal harm, will be redressed if her relief is granted.
“It is clear that Kelly has strong religious beliefs and is sincere in her convictions. However, this court cannot grant the relief she desires.”
Griffin wrote that it is impossible for the court to determine what happens to people after they die and what could cause a person to be sentenced to hell.
"That determination is appropriately left to a higher power," Griffin wrote.
