Lawsuit says timeshare company is scamming customers

ST. LOUIS (Legal Newsline) – A Missouri class action lawsuit alleges a timeshare company hides certain information from prospective customers.

On Oct. 9, plaintiffs from several states sued Orange Lake Resorts and Holiday Inn Club Vacations in St. Louis federal court, claiming Orange Lake Resorts uses a high-pressure scheme to trick buyers.

According to the suit, the defendants keep from customers that their purchases will be subject to a floating use plan that keeps them from getting a reasonable amount of use out of their properties.

“As a result of the common scheme, Defendants’ owners are left paying thousands of dollars in purchase price, upgrade costs, and annual maintenance fees, all on timeshare units they are frequently unable to use as advertised, and rarely, if ever, are able to use as reasonably expected,” the suit says.

Attorney Timothy O’Grady of Des Peres filed the case.
