WILMINGTON, Del. (Legal Newsline) – Boeing has won a small victory in Delaware in one of the many lawsuits brought by investors over the company’s problems with its 737 Max airplanes that were involved in two deadly crashes.
In Matthew Mooney’s lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court, he wanted Boeing to comply with his discovery requests while the company argued a ruling on its pending motion to dismiss would help narrow what information it would need to disclose.
Judge William Witham agreed on Sept. 1, issuing a stay while the motion to dismiss is sorted.
“Mooney offered no explanation in his response as to why a grant of this Motion to Stay and for Protective order would prejudice his case,” Witham wrote.
“In Mooney’s response, he spends merely two sentences with no legal backing for his assertions as to why his case would be prejudiced.”
Boeing, meanwhile, is dealing with lawsuits from shareholders upset about the company’s stock drop in several other jurisdictions.
Mooney has taken on the role of representing himself.
