NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) – Soft drinks are now being targeted by the vanilla lawyers, as a new lawsuit says the vanilla in Vanilla Coke is not natural.
Sheehan & Associates and Reese LLP filed the case July 1. It’s one of dozens of lawsuits they have filed against products like ice cream that contain vanilla flavors.
“The relevant front label representations include ‘vanilla,’ ‘Coca-Cola’ and ‘Vanilla Flavored & Other Natural Flavors,’” the lawsuit says.
“The representations are misleading because although the characterizing flavor is represented as vanilla, the vanilla taste is not exclusively from vanilla and is from artificial flavors.”
The lawsuit says when vanilla flavors that aren’t actual vanilla are used to promote a product as vanilla, they are supposed to be declared as artificial flavors.
