Class action questions if Kraft used milk from cows on hormones

Federal Court
Kraft

SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) – Now that Kraft says its products are made with milk free from artificial growth hormones, it is being sued under the theory that it lied to customers in the years prior.

A class action lawsuit filed July 2 in California federal court theorizes that if this change was recent, then all those years Kraft promised its products were “natural” were a sham.

The Richman Law Group of San Francisco filed the lawsuit.

“Kraft’s claim that its products were ‘natural’ was false, deceptive and misleading in that they were made with milk from cows who were given rbST, which is an artificial hormone and which unnaturally increased the cows’ milk production,” the complaint says.

“Reasonable consumers, seeing Kraft’s ‘natural’ representations, would expect that the products were made without the use of an ‘artificial hormone’ such as rbST.”

Kraft also continues to deceive consumers because some of its products are still made with cows given that hormone, the case says.
