Texas residents say drilling poisoned their water

Federal Court
General court 09

AUSTIN, Texas (Legal Newsline) – Texas residents are fighting natural gas drilling operations by filing a lawsuit in federal court.

The case, filed June 22 in Austin, targets Permian Highway Pipeline LLC and Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline LLC. It says the defendants pumped 36,000 gallons of drilling fluid into an aquifer near Blanco.

The plaintiffs say the fluid – AMC Gel – contains human carcinogens and allege violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

“The plume presents a continuing danger of contamination to this underground source of drinking water upon which 10,000 people depend,” the lawsuit says.

The plaintiffs have told their story to the Houston Chronicle.
