SEATTLE (Legal Newsline) – A Washington business claiming to have a coronavirus vaccine has been sued by the Washington attorney general.
AG Bob Ferguson filed his case June 12 against North Coast Biologics, of Redmond. Ferguson had sent the company a cease-and-desist letter but filed suit after it failed to enter into a legally binding agreement to stop selling the product, Ferguson claims.
“Mr. Stine sold this so-called ‘vaccine’ to people in Washington who are frightened and more apt to look for a miracle cure in the midst of a worldwide pandemic,” Ferguson said. “This is not only morally wrong — it’s illegal.”
The case is filed in King County Superior Court and brings claims under the Consumer Protection Act. Allegedly, North Coast Biologics sold a supposed vaccine to about 30 people and administered it to them for $400 each.
The company’s owner sold the “vaccine” on Facebook, starting on March 2. He claimed to develop a vaccine in half a day after testing it on himself.
The company failed to file for a business license renewal eight years ago and was dissolved by the State, Ferguson said. The federal Food and Drug Administration sent it a warning letter on May 21 to remove the Facebook posts about the “vaccine.”
