EL PASO, Texas (Legal Newsline) – A woman alleges she was fired for pointing out problems at a company that makes uniforms for military personnel.

Blanca Carrillo filed her lawsuit on May 21 in Texas federal court against Roicom, for whom she worked in quality control. She says a May 2019 inspection revealed 80 uniforms had torn lining.

Serial number labels had been taken out and re-sewn manually, leaving “dangerous holes in the lining that could harm the soldiers who would eventually use these uniforms,” the lawsuit says.

After resistance from her supervisors and three weeks after submitting a declaration, she was laid off. She is alleging False Claims Act retaliation.

“Carrillo reported this fraud to Defendant to stop fraudulent claims on the government,” the complaint says. “Carrillo engaged in protected activity under the statute.”
