Lawsuit warns there's vinegar in Windex

NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) – A new class action lawsuit targets S.C. Johnson & Son’s Windex product for claiming to be sold in bottles that are 100% ocean plastic and non-toxic.

Katherine Shimanovsky filed the lawsuit in New York federal court on May 7 through lawyers at Reese LP and Sheehan & Associates.

The lawsuit claims the Federal Trade Commission has determined it is deceptive that a product is non-toxic and that the Environmental Protection Agency has cautioned that non-toxic claims might keep consumers from taking necessary precautions while handling a product.

The lawsuit also says there are ingredients that could be harmful to humans, pets and/or the environment – one of which is vinegar.

“The website for the National Capital Poison Center has a lengthy page listing on potential complications from contact or ingestion of vinegar and notes, ‘vinegar can cause injury if improperly used,’” the lawsuit says.
