NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) — A development company that purchased land north of New York City claims Revlon is required to help fund the cost of clean up at the former landfill site due to the company's reported disposal of hazardous waste.

Bilwin Development Affiliates LLC filed a complaint on April 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against Revlon Consumer Products Corporation and Revlon Inc.

Bilwin alleges in its complaint that Revlon is required to help pay for the costs of investigations, removal and remediation of hazardous waste that was disposed of by Revlon at a former landfill in the Village of Tuckahoe in New York's Westchester County, according to the complaint.

Bilwin claimed the site's soil and groundwater, which was contaminated with chlorinated fluorocarbons, is allegedly associated with Revlon's waste products that included cans of Mitchum antiperspirant, inhalers and other products containing Freon, according to the complaint.

Bilwin seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Linda Shaw, Dwight Kanyuck and Jonathan Tantillo of Knauf Shaw LLP in Rochester.
