LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — Major League Baseball, its teams and ticket merchants are facing a consumer class action over their refusal to refund ticket purchases for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Matthew Ajzenman and Susan Terry-Bazer, on behalf of themselves and all others who are similarly situated, filed a complaint April 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California-Western Division against the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball and others, alleging unjust enrichment and other claims.
The plaintiffs allege baseball fans who purchased tickets for the Major League Baseball 2020 season have been left in "limbo" after not being able to receive refunds and are left with "unusable tickets for unplayable games" due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by David Azar, Marc Grossman, Peggy Wedgworth, Andrei Rado, Jennifer Czeisler, Blake Yagman and Michael Accivatti of Milberg Phillips Grossman LLP in Irvine, California and New York.
