FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Legal Newsline) – A Florida man is suing Adidas over allegations the soles of his new sneakers came loose and caused him to fall down the stairs.

Jose Bustos filed a complaint Dec. 16 in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Court in and for Palm Beach County against Adidas America Inc. and The Finish Line Inc. alleging negligence and liability.

Bustos purchased a pair of men's "Spring Blade" sneakers from a West Palm Beach Finish Line store in October 2015. He alleges that after a few days of wearing the sneakers, the soles "failed at the bonding at the middle of the sole."

Bustos alleges that on Jan. 22, 2016, the sole of the sneakers broke, causing him to fall down the stairs of his home and sustain injuries.

The plaintiff alleges the sneakers were defective and not properly tested or inspected.

Bustos seeks compensatory damages of more than $15,000, trial by jury and all other proper relief. He is represented by Leidy Cuervo of Stabinski & Funt PA in Miami.

The case was removed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Jan. 17 by the defendants.
