LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) – The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences is alleging breach of contract against the Florida company it contracted with to create the 61st annual Grammy Awards program book.
The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Inc. filed a complaint Dec. 9 in the U.S District Court for the Central District of California alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, the Recording Academy and FX Group entered into an agreement on June 18, 2018, for FX to create, produce and sell the 61st annual Grammy Awards ceremony program book. The contract, which was similar to agreements made by the two parties since 2012, included FX keeping the advertising revenue from the book.
The suit states the 2018 agreement stated that FX would pay the Academy a "minimum amount" of $125,000 divided into specific payments and deadlines. The Recording Academy alleges that FX has failed to make all of the payments.
The Recording Academy seeks monetary relief of $86,000, interest and all other just relief. It is represented by Sandra Crawshaw-Sparks of Proskauer Rose LLP in Los Angeles.
