SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) – A California consumer alleges a brand of olive oil is not extra virgin olive oil as advertised.

Renee Young filed a complaint individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated on Aug. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Transnational Foods Inc. and Does 1-10 citing the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act.

According to the complaint, Transnational Foods manufactures and sells Pampa Extra Virgin Olive Oil. She alleges that clinical testing conducted by a leading laboratory determined the product is not extra virgin olive oil and that plaintiff and the class purchased the product relying on the defendant's misrepresentations.

The plaintiff holds Transnational Foods Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly misrepresented that the product had goods or characteristics that it does not.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, certification of the suit as class action and to appoint her as class representative and her counsel as class counsel, restitution, interest, attorneys’ fees and expenses and costs of suit, and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Scott J. Ferrell of Pacific Trial Attorneys APC in Newport Beach, California.
