BROOKLYN, NY (Legal Newsline) – A Georgia lawyer has filed a suit against a Minnesota partnership and an attorney over allegations it published false statements about him.
Shimshon Wexler filed a complaint on May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Artin Betpera alleging defamation.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he brought a Telephone Consumer Protection Act class action lawsuit against AT&T with his wife Dr. Eve Wexler as the proposed class action plaintiff. He alleges on Feb. 12, the defendants published two articles regarding the suit that contained false information about him and were defamatory.
The plaintiff holds Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Betpera responsible because the defendants' statements allegedly exposed him to hatred, contempt, ridicule and shame and caused him to suffer damages of $75,000.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, interest, costs of court and all other relief that are just and proper. He is representing himself.
