TAMPA, Fla. (Legal Newsline) – A Pennsylvania debt collector is alleged to have invaded a Florida woman's privacy with calls meant for another person.

Carleigh Pruitt filed a complaint on behalf of others similarly situated on Jan. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Transworld Systems Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in October 2017, she received several collection calls on her cellular telephone from the defendant in its attempt to reach a person unknown to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff holds Transworld Systems Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly made several collection calls to the plaintiff using an automatic telephone dialing system and contacted the plaintiff despite the fact the plaintiff has never had a business relationship with it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant from further placing calls to the plaintiff's cellular telephone number, actual damages or statutory damages in the amount of up to $1,500 per violation, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants.

She is represented by Michael L. Greenwald, James L. Davidson and Jesse S. Johnson of Greenwald Davidson Radbil PLLC in Boca Raton, Florida and Aaron D. Radbil of Greenwald Davidson Radbil PLLC in Austin, Texas.
