LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) – Former fashion consultants of LuLaRoe have filed a class action lawsuit alleging that they lost thousands to a pyramid scheme.

Lora Haskett, Ashley Healy, Jocelyn Burke-Craig, Brittany Bianchi and Kerry Tighe-Schwegler, individually and on behalf of a class of similarly situated individuals, filed a complaint on Oct. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Lularoe LLC, doing business as LuLaRoe, LLR Inc. alleging unfair and fraudulent business practices.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs became fashion consultants for the defendant in 2015 or 2016 and "lost thousands of dollars as a direct result." The suit states that to become a consultant, individuals initially pay between $5,000 to $8,000.

The plaintiffs holds Lularoe LLC, doing business as LuLaRoe, LLR Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to disclose to consumers that they were entering into an illegal pyramid scheme and misrepresented the money that a consultant would earn.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for damages, relief, pre- and post-judgment interest as the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by Marc L. Godino, Mark S. Greenstone and Kara M. Wolke of Glancy Prongay & Murray LLP in Los Angeles and Kevin Landau and Brett Cebulash of Taus, Cebulash & Landau LLP in New York.
