LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — Six consumers have filed a class action lawsuit against Toyota, alleging design defect, negligence and product liability.

Tonya Combs, James Tinney, Melissa Jugo Tinney, Crystal Gillespie, Melissa Stalker and Joseph C. Harp Jr. filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, June 23 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc., and Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc., alleging they manufactured and sold defective vehicles.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs were damaged from purchasing a vehicle that had a defective sliding door. The plaintiffs allege the defendants knew of the defective sliding door of their vehicles but failed to repair or replace these defects.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, enjoin the defendant, actual and statutory damages, restitution, punitive damages, interest, court costs and all further relief the court grants. They are represented by attorney Jeffrey S. Hurst of Monteleone & McCrory, LLP in Los Angeles.
