Macy's linen products had inflated thread counts, lawsuit claims

LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — A California consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against Macy's, alleging breach of contract, fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

Sara Hawes filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, June 27 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Macy's Retail Holdings Inc., AQ Textiles LLC, Creative Textile Mills Private Limited, alleging they say their linen and bedding products have a higher thread counts which provides better comfort than products with lesser thread counts.

According to the complaint, Hawes was damaged from purchasing a falsely advertised product. The plaintiff alleges the defendants artificially inflated the thread counts of their linen and products in order to mislead consumers into buying the products.

Hawes seeks trial by jury, enjoin the defendant, disgorgement of profits, compensatory damages, restitution of all monies paid, exemplary damages, order the defendant to engage in a corrective advertising, court costs and all further relief the court grants. Her attorneys include S.
