Arkansas couple accuse ministries group of fraud

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Legal Newsline) — An Arkansas couple have filed a class action lawsuit against a ministries group, alleging fraud.

Dr. Garland D. Murphy III and Phyllis Murphy of Bentonville, Arkansas, filed a complaint individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Feb. 16 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas against Gospel for Asia, Inc., Gospel for Asia-International, K.P. Yohannan, Gisela Punnose, Daniel Punnose, David Carroll and Pat Emerick, alleging the defendants used the donations they get from other organizations for their own benefit.

According to the complaint, the Murphys were damaged financially due to the monies they've donated not being used properly. The plaintiffs allege the defendants made false representations to the public regarding their activities and actively ask for donations for their own benefit.

The Murphys seek trial by jury, enjoin the defendants, restitution, damages, punitive damages, disgorgement, interest, court costs and all appropriate relief. They are represented by attorneys Woodson W. Bassett III and James Graves of Bassett Law Firm LLP in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
