EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (Legal Newsline) — Two consumers have filed a class action lawsuit against a snacks business, alleging fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

Gayle Greenwood of Illinois and Dominique Morrison of Missouri filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, May 3 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Amplify Snack Brands Inc. alleging the defendant falsely labels it products to make them look like they do not contain any sugars.

According to the complaint, Greenwood and Morrison were damaged financially from purchasing a falsely advertised snack foods product. The plaintiffs allege Amplify Snack Brands say its product does not contain any sugars despite having evaporated cane juice, which is considered as sugar in disguise.

Greenwood and Morrison seek trial by jury, compensatory damages, disgorgement and restitution, punitive damages, enjoin the defendant, attorney fees and court costs, plus all other just and proper relief. They are represented by attorneys Matthew H. Armstrong of Armstrong Law Firm LLC in St. Louis, and by Stuart Cochran of Steckler Gresham Cochran PLLC in Dallas.
