LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — A California consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against Snapchat, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Dave Vaccaro filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, April 14 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Snapchat Inc., and Does 1 through 10, alleging they illegally sent text messages to the plaintiff to offer promotions.

According to the complaint, in January 2017, Vaccaro was damaged from receiving several unsolicited text messages from Snapchat. The plaintiff alleges the defendants sent unsolicited text messages to Vaccaro's cellular telephone without his consent.

Vaccaro seeks trial by jury, seeks $500 in statutory damages, injunctive relief, $1,500 in treble statutory damages, and all relief the court grants. He is represented by attorneys Todd M.
