BOSTON (Legal Newsline) - A group of Massachusetts taxi companies are suing Uber, alleging unfair competition.
Taxi Maintenance Inc., Alice's Cab Inc., George's Cab Inc., G&V&R Cab Inc., Tung's Cab Inc., Tutun Cab Inc. and Metaxia Motor Inc. filed a complaint April 7 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts against Uber Technologies Inc., Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, alleging they devised a scheme to monopolize and gain competitive edge in the ride hailing industry.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs lost potential income from ride hailing services due to Uber. The plaintiffs allege the defendants lowered its fare to a very low anti-competitive amount in order to monopolize the taxi industry.
The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, damages, interest, court costs and attorney fees. They are represented by attorney Darin M. Colucci of Colucci Colucci Marcus & Flavin PC in Milton, Massachusetts.
