SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) — A consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against a beer company, alleging fraud and negligent misrepresentation.
Alexander Panvini filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, April 5 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Asahi Beer USA Inc. alleging false claims regarding the origins of its beer product.
According to the complaint, Panvini suffered monetary damages from being misled into purchasing a product which he thought was imported from Japan. The plaintiff alleges Asahi Beer USA made false representation to its product including labeling it to make it look like it came from and was brewed in Japan.
Panvini seeks trial by jury, enjoin the defendant, disgorge and restitution, statutory and other damages, compensatory damages, all legal fees, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Michael R. Reese and George V. Granade of Reese LLP in New York, and by Melissa Wolchansky of Halunen Law in Minneapolis.
