SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) — A law firm is suing Bank of San Francisco and related parties, citing alleged negligent misrepresentation involving a counterfeit check.

Cornerstone Law Group - Employment/Immigration filed a complaint on March 15 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against the defendants, alleging that they failed to present its funds availability policy to the plaintiff upon opening its operating account.

According to the complaint, Cornerstone sustained financial losses. The plaintiff holds Bank of San Francisco and related parties responsible because the defendants allegedly made funds available before a check cleared, causing the financial losses to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages of $236,448.50, general damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. The plaintiff is represented by Jason Skaggs of Skaggs Faucette LLP in Palo Alto, Calif.
