Home Depot accused of shortchanging customers on wood sizes

CHICAGO (Legal Newsline) — An Illinois resident has filed a class action lawsuit against the Home Depot Inc. for allegedly selling lumber with false dimensions.

Mikhail Abramov filed a complaint on behalf of a class similarly situated on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against the home-improvement retailer. alleging that the Georgia corporation labeled its products with inaccurate dimensions. The complaint also alleges fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages from purchasing a falsely labeled product. The plaintiff holds Home Depot responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to put the correct dimensions of its lumber products, thereby misleading consumers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and compensatory damages, disgorgement, injunctive relief, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by Myles McGuire, Evan Meyers and Eugene Turin of McGuire Law P.C. in Chicago.
