EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (Legal Newsline) — Residents of St. Clair County, Illinois, and St. Louis have filed a class action lawsuit against Inventure Foods Inc., citing alleged fraud, negligent misrepresentation and unfair competition.
Shannah Burton and Michelle Blair filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Feb. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Inventure Foods alleging that the Arizona business falsely advertises the contents of its Boulder Canyon-branded snack chips.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages from purchasing a falsely advertised product. The plaintiffs hold Inventure Foods responsible because it allegedly falsely advertises its product to contain evaporated cane juice when it fact it is just sugar.
The plaintiffs seek to enjoin the defendant, compensatory damages, disgorge or restitution, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Matthew H. Armstrong of Armstrong Law Firm LLC in St. Louis and Stuart L. Cochran of Steckler Gresham Cochran PLLC in Dallas.
