DUBLIN, Ga. (Legal Newsline) — The U.S. government is suing a Georgia hospital, alleging violation of federal law.

The United States of America filed a complaint Dec. 23 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia against Meadows Regional Medical Center Inc. of Vidalia, Georgia, alleging the hospital sought to receive payments for medical services that violates the Stark Law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that United States suffered monetary damages because the defendant received payments from the plaintiff based on erroneous understandings of material fact.

The U.S. government seeks trial by jury, equal monetary damages, court costs plus interest and all equitable relief. It is represented by U.S. attorney Edward J. Tarver and J. Thomas Clarkson, assistant U.S. attorney, in Savannah, Georgia.
