BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Legal Newsline) – A Queens County resident alleges a brand of pasta sauce is mislabeled as all-natural and has filed a class action lawsuit.

Heung Man Wong and John Does 1-100 filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Dec. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against Newman's Own Inc. alleging violation of the New York General Business Law and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages from purchasing a falsely labeled product. The plaintiff holds Newman's Own Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly claims that its product is 100 percent natural despite containing citric acid and other chemicals.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seek restitution and disgorgement plus interest, compensatory damages, actual damages, statutory damages, to enjoin the defendant, reimburse the plaintiff for all amounts paid for the products, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants.  He is represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC in New York.
