HARTFORD, Conn. (Legal Newsline) — A Washington man is suing Cigna, alleging fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

Daniel Perry filed a class action complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Nov. 17 in U.S. District Court District of Connecticut against Cigna Corporation, Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company and Optumrx Inc., alleging they participated in a scheme to artificially inflate prescription co-payment amounts.

According to the complaint, Perry suffered monetary damages from paying artificially inflated prices for prescription drugs. The plaintiff alleges the defendants conspired with other insurance companies in order to artificially inflate prescription drugs.

Perry seeks a trial by jury, to enjoin the defendant, notify every individual who paid a co-payment for medically necessary, covered prescription drugs, restitution, disgorgement, damages, court costs and all further relief the court grants. He is represented by attorneys Joseph P. Guglielmo and Erin Green of Scott+Scott Attorneys at Law, LLP in New York, and Colchester, Connecticut, and by Andrew Lemmon of Lemmon Law Firm LLC of Hahnville, Louisiana.
