Utah business barred from making unsolicited phone calls to Kansas consumers

TOPEKA, Kan. (Legal Newsline) — Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt recently announced a Utah-based medical device company has been barred from making unsolicited phone calls to Kansas consumers.

The company does business as KMR Medical LLC, KPM Capital LLC, Arizona Medical Supply LLC, Western Medical Supply, Medical Pendant Billing LLC, and US Lifecare. A consent judgment, which was approved earlier this month in Shawnee County District Court, also requires the company to pay $10,000 in fines for its alleged violations of the Kansas Do Not Call Act.

“Companies that solicit Kansas consumers through telephone marketing must follow Kansas laws,” Schmidt said. “Our office received multiple complaints from Kansas consumers regarding this company’s telemarketing practices. The group of companies is now permanently banned from telemarketing in Kansas."

Schmidt first took action against the company in 2014, alleging it called Kansas consumers registered on the Do-Not-Call list and attempted to sell them medical alert devices.
