Massachusetts attorney general cites M&G Drywall for allegedly failing to pay employees

BOSTON (Legal Newsline) — Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced last week that M&G Drywall Corp. and owner Miguel Guzman of Brockton were cited $22,875 for failing to pay their employees.

According to Healey’s office, the company did not pay wages in a timely manner to nine employees, nor did it properly furnish records. Her office looked into the matter after the issued was referred to the Fair Labor Division from the New England Regional Council of Carpenters.

The council had received numerous complaints from former employees.

Healey’s office alleged M&G Drywall failed to pay for several construction jobs over a two-week period.

“We know that wage theft is a real issue here in Massachusetts, especially in the construction industry where workers are particularly susceptible to abuse,” Healey said.

“We take complaints of wage theft very seriously and will continue to go after businesses and owners that cheat their workers out of their hard-earned wages.”
