NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) — New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman has announced a notice of violation against the Donald J. Trump Foundation (Trump Foundation). The notice directs the entity to cease and desist from soliciting contributions in New York.

According to Schneiderman’s office, the Trump Foundation solicited contributions in New York state earlier this year, in violation of section 172 of Article 7-A New York's Executive Law. The law mandates that all charitable organizations that seek contributions in New York must register with the Charities Bureau and provide annual financial reports and annual audited financial statements. The Trump Foundation has allegedly not registered.

Under the notice, the foundation must “immediately cease soliciting contributions or engaging in other fundraising activities in New York” and “provide the [AG's] Charities Bureau with the information specified in Section 172 within 15 days.”
