HARRISBURG, Pa. (Legal Newsline) — Pennsylvania Attorney General Bruce R. Beemer has announced that charges have been filed against Louis F. Caputo, a Pittsburgh-area attorney.

Caputo allegedly used his position to aid and protect the illegal gambling enterprise of one of his associates.

According to claims, Caputo assisted Ronald “Porky” Melocchi in the management of an illegal gambling scheme involving the installation and maintenance of video gambling devices in bars, restaurants and other businesses in the McKeesport area. Law enforcement officials seized 330 of these devices after the initial case began in 2013.

Caputo’s role in the scheme involved joining Melocchi’s “Super PAC,” a group used to show strength in terms of the people with whom he had a connection. In his Super PAC role, Caputo allegedly assisted in securing new locations for the video gambling business.

Beemer stressed that this is an ongoing case and thanked the Pennsylvania State Police for its work on the matter. Senior Deputy Attorney General Mark A. Serge of the Office of Attorney General's organized crime section is handling the case.
