ORLANDO, Fla. (Legal Newsline) – An Orlando consumer claims that a debt collector has called her more than 150 times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

Lakarla Brown filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Bluestem Brands Inc., doing business as Fingerhut, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in beginning in May, she sustained damages from receiving numerous collection calls from the defendant. The plaintiff holds Bluestem Brands Inc., doing business as Fingerhut, responsible because the defendant allegedly contacted plaintiff using an automatic telephone dialing system despite plaintiff's two requests for the calls to cease.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, punitive damages, actual damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Amy Ferrera of Morgan & Morgan Tampa, P.A. in Tampa, Florida.
