SAN FRANCISCO — A California man is suing Uber, alleging he was charged for rides he did not use.
Michael Cordas filed a class action lawsuit, individually and on behalf of all those similarly situated, July 20, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Uber Technologies, Inc., and Does 1 through 50, alleging breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment.
According to the complaint, between 2015 and 2016, Cordas suffered monetary damages as the result of being charged for canceling his requested service from Uber when he did not cancel the rides within the application time. The plaintiff alleges the defendants charged Cordas for canceling his ride service despite his not being able to contact the driver of the ride service.
Cordas seeks a trial by jury, actual damages, a permanent injunction enjoining the defendant, restitution and disgorgement, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by attorneys Kristopher P. Badame, Joseph H. Hunter and Michele E. Pillette of Badame & Associates APC in Lake Forest, California.
