SANTA ANA, Calif. (Legal Newsline) — A consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against a debt collector for allegedly violating telephone harassment statutes.

Renee Goggans filed a complaint on behalf of herself and all others similarly situated July 1 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Santa Ana Division, against LoanMe Inc., alleging that the debt collector contacted the plaintiff several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between 2015 and 2016, she was called several times using an automatic dialing system. The plaintiff holds LoanMe Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly contacted the plaintiff several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt despite her request for them to stop calling her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks general, special and punitive damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Mark Ankcorn of Ankcorn Law Firm PC in San Diego, California.
