CINCINNATI (Legal Newsline) - An Ohio woman is suing an energy company, alleging it deceived customers.
Patricia Wilson, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a class action lawsuit April 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio Western Division at Cincinnati against Direct Energy Services LLC, doing business as Direct Energy, alleging breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud.
The suit alleges Direct Energy took advantage of retail electricity market deregulation by luring consumers into switching electricity suppliers with false promises of lowering their bills. Direct Energy then charged consumers a higher rate than consumers were being charged by their original supplier, the complaint states.
Wilson and others in the class seek a jury trial, punitive damages, constructive trust, injunctive relief, attorney fees and costs. They are represented by attorneys Joseph W. Shea III, Gregory P.
