NEWARK, N.J. (Legal Newsline) – Acting Attorney General for the state of New Jersey Robert Lougy’s office announced this week that the state’s Division of Consumer Affairs is seeking revocation of a business in Ocean City.
According to the report, Bergre Acquisitions LLC, doing business as Home Care Specialists, allegedly sent uncertified employees to clients that required Certified Homemaker-Home Health Aides (CHHA), and the business also allegedly falsified documents that had been registered with the state. Care providers are also required to conduct 30-day or 60-day reviews for client care and in-home evaluations respectively, which it allegedly failed to do.
In order to provide home care services, a company is required to have verification that any employee performing these tasks has certification with the State Board of Nursing and they must have copies of these records within its files. The company allegedly placed four employees without verification and had placed uncertified employees with two clients needing certified caregivers.
An investigation found that a renewal application that Home Care Specialists had indicated that an individual with registered nurse status served as its health care practitioner supervisor. The registered nurse was contacted and allegedly stated that she had never been employed by Home Care Specialists. She had purportedly applied for a job with the company.
As a result of these charges, Acting Director of the Division Steve Lee signed a provisional order to revoke health care service registration and would assign a $2,000 civil penalty. The company in question may request a hearing to contest this action.
