OKLAHOMA CITY (Legal Newsline) - Two Kansas residents are suing oil and natural gas companies, alleging they engaged in anti-competitive business practices.
Curtis L. Crandall and Janet K. Crandall, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a class action lawsuit April 1 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma against Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Chesapeake Exploration LLC, Sandridge Energy Inc. and Tom L. Ward, alleging violations of the Sherman Act and the Clayton Act.
The suit alleges the defendants engaged in conspiracy to suppress and eliminate competition for oil and natural gas leases in the Anadarko Basin region by rigging bids for certain leasehold interests and producing properties. As a result, prices of these leasehold interests and producing properties were unlawfully depressed, the lawsuit states.
The plaintiffs and others in the class seek a jury trial, injunctive relief, damages, attorney fees and other costs of the suit. They are represented by attorneys Bradley C. West and Terry W.
