HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (Legal Newsline) — Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane has announced a consent decree relating to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (“UPMC”) acquisition of Jameson Health System Inc.
The consent decree’s final order mandates that all Jameson contracts be maintained until their completion. Additionally, for the next 10 years, UPMC must contract with all health plans that want one with Jameson.
UPMC Jameson must also remain as an acute care hospital for at least 10 years after the acquisition.
"The Office of Attorney General throughout this process has worked to protect the interests of citizens in Lawrence County and the surrounding areas,” Kane said. "It is the office's responsibility to ensure that people have access to affordable health care. We believe this agreement is a step toward accomplishing that goal for residents in these communities."
UPMC has allowed Kane’s office to provide an ombudsman to review any complaints associated with the final order.
