Florida AG strikes deal with You Fit over allegedly failing to disclose hidden fees

Fitness

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Legal Newsline) – Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office announced an assurance of voluntary compliance with You Fit LLC after allegations the company conducted false marketing and advertising.

Consumers complained that You Fit advertised month-to-month memberships without obligations but failed to disclose hidden required commitments and fees until after contracts had been signed. Some complainants also alleged that the company failed to acknowledge membership cancellations, continuing to charge monthly fees after the consumers had tried to cancel their membership.

The company denies any wrongdoing and fully cooperated with Bondi’s office throughout the case.

The assurance of voluntary compliance mandates that the company provide written notice of all conditions and fees. It must provide prospective customers with a membership agreement copy. It needs to establish polices to train employees on these policies. It cannot advertise month-to-month memberships as having no obligations unless it is entirely true. The company must designate a general manager at each of its locations as a compliance representative. Finally, it must cancel the membership agreement of anyone who requests it.

Additionally, You Fit agreed to refund all membership fees, cancellation fees and other fees it gained after membership cancellations.
