LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) – A Florida man is suing a school over claims it made unsolicited calls to his cellphone.

Ramon Feliciano, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a class-action lawsuit Feb. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against United Education Institute, alleging violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

The suit alleges that between Feb. 5 and Feb. 25, the defendant called Feliciano's cellphone at least 67 times using an automated telephone dialing system.

Feliciano allegedly did not give the defendant prior express written consent to make these calls, and claims he repeatedly asked the defendant to stop calling him.

Feliciano and others in the class seek injunctive relief, statutory damages of $500 per allegedly violating call, treble damages of $1,500 per allegedly violating call, and attorney fees and costs. They are represented by attorneys L. Timothy Fisher, Annick M. Persinger, Yeremey Krivoshey and Scott A. Bursor of Bursor & Fisher in Walnut Creek, California and New York.
