TOPKEA, Kan. (Legal Newsline) – Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced that Judson Enterprises Inc. (K-Designers) of Gold River, California, will pay $110,000 due to allegations it violated the No-Call Act and the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.

K-Designers was also enjoined from further violations of the Kansas No-Call Act and Kansas Consumer Protection Act. It must also adopt policies and train employees in a way that will ensure compliance with state laws. Regular reports must be made to the attorney general on these policies.

“We continue to vigorously pursue violations of the Kansas No-Call Act,” Schmidt said. “Kansans who have signed up for the Do-Not-Call list have an expectation that their privacy be respected. We will enforce the law against those telemarketers who violate it.”

Schmidt’s office’s Consumer Protection Division looked into K-Designers in 2013 when it received consumer complaints. Four consumers filed complaints with Schmidt’s office, while 34 others filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission.

Complaints alleged that K-Designers telemarketers called Kansas consumers even though they were on the Do Not Call registry.
