Washington, D.C., has reached an agreement with the Korean-American Grocers Association of Washington that will require the company to educate members on the sale of synthetic drugs, Washington, D.C., Attorney General Karl Racine said on Aug. 5.

KAGRO is a leading local business group in the area, and the agreement is part of an effort by the local government to educate residents on the potential dangers posed by the consumption of synthetic cannabinoids, Racine said.

“Synthetic drugs are extremely dangerous, and it’s important to ensure that potential sellers and users of these drugs know the significant risk they pose,” Racine said. “I want to applaud the Korean American Grocers Association for immediately embracing this partnership, and we will look for other opportunities to partner with outside groups to eliminate synthetic drugs. We will also continue to work with MPD, DCRA and other government agencies to ensure that we use every tool in our tool box to fight this battle.”

As partners, Racine’s office and KAGRO will work to teach members brand names and what the packaging of the drugs looks like, any available law enforcement resource, warn about the dangers of the drugs, and set up workshops and trainings.
