SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) - A well-known household products manufacturer is being sued for allegedly including non-natural ingredients in its products.

Rebekah Baharestan and Jena McIntyre filed the lawsuit on Aug. 4 in U.S. District Court in California against Venus Laboratories, also known as Earth Friendly Products Inc.

The lawsuit said while Earth Friendly Products as “natural” some of its laundry detergent, air fresheners, starch spray, stain and odor remover and other products contain other artificial ingredients.

“Earth Friendly represents the products to be natural, naturally derived, made from plaints, and safer alternatives to traditional detergents,” the lawsuit said. “Additionally, Earth Friendly represents the products as pure and free from harmful chemicals found in traditional detergents. To the detriment of the consumer, the products are not, in fact, natural.”

The lawsuit seeks class status for those who purchased products from Earth Friendly. The plaintiffs are also seeking damages in excess of $5 million plus court costs.

The plaintiffs are represented by Mark N. Todzo and Abigail Blodgett of Lexington Law Group in San Francisco and Melissa W. Wolchansky and Charles D. Moore of Halunen Law in Minneapolis.
