On-line lingerie seller leaves customers hanging

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon

ST. LOUIS -- Missouri Attorney Jay Nixon claims a St. Louis-area business selling lingerie over the Internet is ripping off customers and wants to close it. Nixon last week filed suit against Doxy Lingerie owner Jennifer Lutke in St. Louis County Court seeking consumer restitution and an injunction to stop her violating Missouri's consumer protection law. Nixon claims Doxy Lingerie typically charges customers' credit cards the next business day but often forces them to wait weeks or months for orders. Nixon's suit also asks Doxy to pay 10 percent of the restitution figure to a state fund, plus civil penalties of "up to $1,000 for every violation of the Consumer Protection Laws" and court costs.
